In this video, created by Harvard Graduate school of Education,
it talks about how the real world problems can be discussed or treated in the virtual world.
In other words, the purpose of this immersive education is to solve the authentic problem
in a virtual world using variety of methods available using virtual technology.
In this case, they generated a Camagua Bay in Alaska in the Virtual World.

Using the virtual technology, each student can log into the system and walk around
and view the island freely just like they are in the real world.
Furthermore, they can try to solve the problem of real natural sources,
such as depleting and shrinking natural resources.

Students can measure the amounts and temperature of water in the island
and find out what the problem is on the real world.
They can save the data and compare it with surrounding islands' environments.

In the video, it says that virtual assessment is much more valid than paper and pencil assessment.
By using virtual world as a source of making observation and solving the problems, the goals can be achieved.

I am currently taking the Immersive Education course at Boston College(MT358-Video game and virtual reality).
